Getting Started: Your First Adventure
Choose a starting role, assemble a useful Pawn party, learn your defensive action and prepare an outward and return journey.

Choose a job you want to perform
Begin with a simple question: do you want to make close-range defensive decisions, aim from a distance, support with magick or move quickly with daggers? The vocation selection guide connects those preferences to the starting choices and explains the later unlocks separately.
Do not spend the first session trying to reproduce an endgame screenshot. A useful first goal is to understand one weapon, one defensive action and one way to recover after an encounter.
Build a party with distinct responsibilities
Your custom main Pawn and two additional recruited Pawns can accompany the Arisen. Before leaving, look at the party as a group rather than selecting each companion only by appearance. Ask who covers nearby enemies, who can operate at range and who provides recovery.
These are recommended jobs to check, not mandatory class slots. The Pawn guide explains the actual command and revival rules; the party preparation guide gives example combinations.
Learn what happens after you attack
Stamina is used by actions including sprinting, grabbing and weapon skills. Exhaustion changes your ability to continue acting. For practice, use a short attack sequence and watch your position and remaining resources before beginning another.
An attack that connects is not automatically a safe attack. Notice whether you finish surrounded, far from the party or unable to respond. Learn this with the equipment you already understand before changing several skills and weapons at once.
Check equipment before buying it
Identify the weapon family and compatible vocation first. Compare your equipped item’s enhancement state with the offered item, not just one large number. Our named-weapon table includes documented sources and base reference values; it is a starting catalogue, not a shopping list that every beginner should complete.
A weapon tied to a distant encounter is not a required purchase for your current objective. Prioritize a practical next step over acquiring everything mentioned by a guide.
Plan a journey that includes coming back
Choose one objective, check the party and supplies, and decide how you will leave the destination afterward. The travel reference explains Portcrystals and oxcarts; a marked location is not automatically a usable teleport destination.
After the trip, record what actually caused difficulty. One missing capability is a better next improvement than replacing the whole setup without knowing why. This beginner routine is editorial advice built around source-reviewed mechanics, not a speedrun route or a promise that every encounter will be safe.
Frequently asked questions
Should I buy equipment before checking its vocation?
No. Confirm the compatible vocation and weapon family first; a larger attribute does not fix incompatibility.
Does a beginner guide need an endgame build?
No. Start with the abilities and equipment available to you, and treat later unlocks as separate goals.
