Start from the decisions you enjoy
Our recommendation is to choose the type of decision you want to make repeatedly. A player who enjoys judging a shield response should investigate Fighter. Someone who prefers aiming and maintaining distance should investigate Archer. A player interested in ally support should examine Mage, while someone who wants frequent close-range movement should examine Thief.
These are editorial suggestions, not difficulty rankings. A role that feels comfortable to one player may be unfamiliar to another.
Test before committing to a shopping list
Try a familiar encounter and identify one thing the vocation does well for you and one situation you cannot yet handle comfortably. Check learned skills, equipment compatibility and party coverage before deciding the class itself is unsuitable.
Do not compare an unfamiliar beginner setup with an advanced loadout that assumes several separate unlocks. Record those prerequisites first. Warfarer’s flexibility also carries tradeoffs; access to more weapon families is not proof that it automatically replaces every specialist.
Choose companions around the remaining jobs
After choosing the player’s role, use the party guide to cover what is missing. The important question is not whether four individually popular choices appear together, but whether the group can perform the jobs you expect.
Use Gear Finder to establish compatibility and inspect documented named items. It does not rank vocations, calculate character damage or infer that your save has completed an unlock.
Frequently asked questions
Do Pawns have access to all ten vocations?
No. Mystic Spearhand, Magick Archer, Trickster and Warfarer are Arisen-only.
Is this a tier list?
No. It compares roles and access; it does not claim a measured best vocation for every situation.
