Speak to Sigurd about his fighting style

The documented early route is to speak with Sigurd after the dragon encounter in Melve during Readvent of Calamity and ask about his fighting style. His location depends on progression; Dragonsbreath Tower is another documented encounter location. After the unlock conversation, use a Vocation Guild to select the class.

Do not interpret the absence of an NPC at one location as proof that your save is permanently locked out. Check your active quest stage and the available dialogue before following another player’s route blindly. This page does not claim a single NPC location works for every story state.

A melee and magick kit

Mystic Spearhand combines duospear attacks with magick. Mirour Vesture is a protective skill, while Thef’s Hond is associated with drawing stamina from enemies. These examples describe different jobs rather than a complete list of skills or a promise that one skill removes every threat.

Duospears belong to this vocation and Warfarer. A Pawn cannot be assigned Mystic Spearhand, so plan your party around the player supplying this role.

Suggested learning priorities

Start by learning the reach and recovery of the weapon before adding several unfamiliar skills. Practice one defensive decision and one way to capitalize on a safe opening. Only then add another action that fills a specific gap, such as approach or resource management.
