Swords or greatswords

Swords belong to Fighter's one-handed weapon options; the larger greatsword family belongs to Warrior. A Fighter Pawn can use a compatible sword, while the Arisen can also equip this family as Warfarer. Buying a greatsword because its Strength is higher does not turn it into a Fighter upgrade.

For the sword-and-shield approach, start with Fighter and the shield reference. Keep the weapon choice separate from learning and setting the vocation's skills.

The shared table also includes Silver Rapier. Its recorded acquisition is chest at Vernworth, Grand Riftstone bell tower. Read the source and access notes before treating it as an available upgrade.

Broadsword is our straightforward physical shop example. Almace adds an Ice element and a Magick value to its reference record. Their vendor notes give you a place to begin looking; they are not a required sequence of purchases. The table is read from the same records as Gear Finder, not a second handwritten copy.

3 selected swords records. Base reference values before enhancement, reviewed 2026-10-12. This is not an exhaustive list or a current-patch gameplay test. Each name links to its canonical acquisition record; the row's source supports its recorded values.

Choose for the problem you have

Our practical recommendation is to identify what you need before spending: a compatible first weapon, another elemental option, or a replacement for something heavily enhanced. Compare like-for-like enhancement states in the equipment menu. Do not interpret Almace's Strength plus Magick as a single measured damage total, or its Ice element as proof that it wins every matchup.

A limited budget also has to cover the shield, travel and other equipment. One readable base-stat table cannot settle that tradeoff for every character.

Plan the acquisition

Use the specific vendor and condition notes, then check the price in your own game. After choosing a candidate, consult equipment enhancement before consuming materials. The Fighter setup guide connects weapon selection with a defined starting configuration rather than a universal ranking.
