Equipment Enhancement: Styles, Smiths and Materials

Start at the correct service

At an armory or smithy, choose Enhance Equipment and select the item you intend to improve. Review the result and required payment before confirming. This is different from combining inventory items: the Combine menu produces consumables and ingredients, while enhancement modifies an existing piece of equipment.

A practical first stop in Vernworth is Roderick's Smithy or Bjorn's Armory. The published base-game reference describes three ordinary enhancement steps followed by Wyrmfire enhancement. Use that as the standard system overview, not as an untested assertion that every newly introduced special item follows the same rules.

Compare the smithing styles

The emphasis is not an item-specific multiplier. A recommendation for a physical weapon does not automatically transfer to armor or a hybrid-damage weapon. Compare the actual result shown for your selected item.

Unlock Dwarven services

Two documented quest routes are Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge, associated with Sara, and Put a Spring in Thy Step, associated with Gautstafr. The latter involves helping Gautstafr and escorting him to the hot springs; the guide records his smithing service back at Windwalker's Home after that quest. Simply finding an NPC is not the same as completing their service unlock.

Check the relevant quest's current journal stage before travelling back and forth. These are named unlock routes, not promises that the service is immediately available in every story state.

Write down the actual bill of materials

Select the item, then record the requested material names, quantities, Gold and enhancement step. Use the material source guide to turn those names into destinations. Do not reuse another weapon's cost merely because both belong to the same family.

Wyrmfire uses Wyrmslife Crystals rather than an invented all-purpose Gold conversion. This page does not publish exact per-item costs, irreversible-choice advice or New Game Plus reset rules without a current, item-specific reference. The Upgrade Material Calculator now records explicit fees and materials for four selected items, with per-step styles and missing-data safeguards. That sample does not establish costs for other equipment or new enhancement systems.

Decide whether to upgrade now

Our suggested decision order is: confirm the intended wearer, compare the current equipment, inspect the proposed result, and then decide whether the improvement justifies the materials. Keep enough travel supplies to return safely. Spending every resource on an item you plan to replace immediately is a planning choice, not a requirement imposed by the game.
